Wilderness Magazine reviews the Scarpa Delta GTX

In the October 2013 Issue of Wilderness Magazine the team reviewed five lightweight 'Three Season Boots', among those they rated as amongst the best was the Scarpa Delta GTX.

Here's what reviewer Paul Hersey - a former guide and outdoors retail shop manager - had to say about this fantastic boot:

"The SCARPA DELTA GTX is marketed as a three season boot capable of trail or off-trail use. And, given the time I had to review it, the boot seems constructed well to do that.

The leather upper comes with a toe box rand and Gore-Tex liner. I am a big fan of boot rands, which help to protect the leather and extend the life of the boot. There are two schools of thought about Gore-Tex, and they both depend on how many rivers you are likely to cross. For me, wet feet are an inevitability on most backcountry trips.

The boot's sole is what I would consider a mid-grade Vibram, certainly grippy enough for extended trail use and lug depth is fine for muddy off-trail and mossy rocks.

The Delta GTX has moderate flex which I imagine will soften considerably with only a small amount of use. This means it will be comfortable to walk in, but not particularly stable across awkward terrain.

Fit wise, it's not particularly wide in the forefoot, but is snug in the heel. The ankle is supportive and moderately cut to allow good movement. This allows for a firm fit and comfortable movement over a range of surfaces.

Overall, a dependable three season boot.
